"This is a singer destined for great things for her voice has the strength not only to fill the auditorium, but to move hearts."

Birmingham Evening Mail (United Kingdom) - 21 September 2001

Rosa Lee THOMAS (soprano) is a dual citizen of U.S.A. and Great Britain.

A singer-actress with experience of more than 300 operatic performances around the world. She garners international critical acclaims and standing ovations for highly dramatic and emotional portrayals of complex heroines. She is adding bel canto roles to her current core repertoire of French, Verdi and Puccini operas.

Rosa grew up in Los Angeles and obtained her Bachelor of Music degree in Vocal Performance from California State University. She made her Los Angeles Opera debut as the lead in Edward Barnes's A Place To Call Home before emigrating to Great Britain.

In London, Rosa made a sensational debut at the Royal Albert Hall as the title role in David Freeman's production of Madama Butterfly for Raymond Gubbay Ltd. She subsequently returned to the Royal Albert Hall to sing Liù Turandot with Opera International.

With Opera International Rosa performed Liù at the Beiteddine Festival in Lebanon in addition to Mimì La Bohème and Micaëla Carmen. With Ukrainian National Opera of Odessa, she sang the title role in Madama Butterfly, Gilda Rigoletto and Violetta La Traviata. She took part in Harare International Festival of Arts in Zimbabwe as Violetta and toured Germany, France, Switzerland, Norway and the Benelux as Butterfly with Compagnia d'Opera Italiana di Milano.

Other performances include Adina L’Elisir d’Amore with Opera Holland Park in London and with Guild Opera in Los Angeles; Susanna Le Nozze di Figaro with Santa Cecilia Opera and Los Angeles Hanmi Opera; the title role in Massenet’s Manon with Los Angeles Music Theatre Company; and concert performances of Juliette Roméo et Juliette with Torrance Symphony (California).

Rosa can be seen as Turandot in the Hollywood film The Life of David Gale directed by Alan Parker and produced by Nicholas Cage. Future engagements include Susanna, Violetta and a command performance of the title role in Madama Butterfly for the President of Malta.
